About CanShield


Our facility has been a colocation and disaster recovery data center for almost 10 years. The building was constructed in 2000 with the purpose of being a highly protected data center. Rebar reinforced concrete cinder blocks and structural steel cross braces produce a building that is both stable and secure. Under CanShield we utilize this space to provide the highest level of service for our customers including: 1 MW of power; a fully supportive diesel generator; battery Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) capacity and carrier-neutral redundant connectivity.

In addition to having the ideal building, in the ideal location, our mission is to provide the most secure and reliable data hosting service that your business can rely on.

The team

CanShield’s team has over 40 years of experience in the IT industry, including building large telecommunication projects throughout Canada. Key to our success is supporting clients through customized and individual service. When working with CanShield you won’t just be dealing with a provider you will be dealing with an extension of your business operations.

George Emery - CEO

George worked in the telecommunications industry for close to 10 years, helping build large infrastructure projects in Eastern Canada. Following this, George worked at a Montreal based consultancy firm undertaking in-depth market analysis, while taking care of sales, marketing and financial management responsibilities. George earned his computer science and economics degree in England, followed by an MBA in Montreal.

Reg Gulliford - Director

Reg brings over 25 years of federal government experience in the design, construction and support of mission critical communications and information technology infrastructure. Reg has extensive experience in physical and electronic security protocols that are mandatory for data center security. Previously, Reg was recognized for his work within the Federal government and was an early supporter of the “whole of government” approach to solving complex problems that broached more than one ministry’s jurisdiction. Reg has held all security clearances that exist in the Federal government.

Robert (Bobby) Iio - Director

Bobby has over 20 years experience in running his own business in real estate and is an expert in developing long lasting relationships with his clients. Additionally, Bobby has spent 7 years consulting in the data center industry supporting various operations with sales, financing and developing a customer centric environment. Bobby was born and raised in Kamloops, BC and is an integral part to the city, being recently given a community award for his work in the BC wildfires.
