Lindsay Sill Joins Board of Directors of CanShield Solutions

PRESS RELEASE – Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada December 8th, 2020 – CanShield Solutions, a provider of hybrid-cloud infrastructure, today announced the appointment of Lindsay Sill to the Board of Directors, effective immediately. Mrs. Sill will act as an independent director, supporting the current Board with governance, go-to-market strategy as well as building closer industry ties.

Mrs. Sill is currently the Chief Operating Officer & Interim Executive Director of the Quantum Algorithms Institute, a newly incorporated not-for-profit organization bringing industry, academia and government together to harness BC’s growing global reputation as a leader in quantum computing. Prior to this, Mrs. Sill was the Chief Executive Officer of WestGrid, an organization that works in partnership with Compute Canada to provide High Performance Compute (HPC) infrastructure and services to researchers in Western Canada. Mrs. Sill spent almost 8 years at WestGrid developing the advanced research capabilities of Western Canada, while forging strong partnerships and working directly with some of Canada’s brightest minds, to support their world-class research.
Mrs. Sill has served on multiple boards, including as an advisory Board member of the first international and Canadian chapter of Women in HPC, which works to improve the gender balance in high performance computing. She serves as a National and Global Ambassador for the Universal Women's Network, Vice-Chair of the Nest Foundation, and is a member of the CIRA Nominations Committee. Mrs. Sill has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Victoria. She also worked as a Laboratory Manager in the Department of Medicine for the University of Calgary where she undertook research on gene therapy and immunology, which eventually led to a publication in Nature. As a member of the Advanced Research Computing Working Group, Lindsay co-authored a position paper on the Advanced Research Compute needs in Canada, as requested by the federal government, through the Leadership Council on Digital Research Infrastructure. These efforts helped influence the 2018 federal budget announcement of $572.5M over five years to implement a Digital Research Infrastructure Strategy.
